The human body is composed of 22 pairs of chromosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes. The female has two X chromosomes while the male has one X chromosome and one Y chromosome.
The female receives one X chromosome from her mother and one X chromosome from her paternal grandmother.
Males have only one X chromosome so they are likely to suffer from genetic X chromosome diseases. The first X chromosome was isolated in 1890.
Actually females get an X chromosome from their mother and another from their father.
