In 1900, sponge divers, diving off the coast of Antikythera Island near Crete discovered the Antikythera Mechanism It is an ancient computer. It was made of bronze and was encrusted.
The cargo of the Greek Galley in which the Antikythera Mechanism was found was analyzed and it was dated to the first century B.C.
The inscriptions on the Antikythera Mechanism were written in ancient Greek. The device consisted of cogwheels fitted into each other.
The device was could accurately calculate the position of the Sun, Moon, and planets.
A British scientist, Derek de Solla Price described finding this ancient computer "like finding a jet plane in the tomb of King Tut."
